2-Butylbenzo[d]isothiazol-3(2H)-one is a compound that belongs to the group of antimicrobial agents. It has been shown to have an effect on the cardiac tissue, and thus, has clinical relevance. 2-Butylbenzo[d]isothiazol-3(2H)-one can inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to copper chloride. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. 2-Butylbenzo[d]isothiazol-3(2H)-one is also able to disrupt the membrane potential in bacteria cells. This may be due to its ability to cause calcium ions from the cytosol into the bacterial cytoplasm through ion channels. The antibacterial activity of 2-butylbenzo[d]isothiazol-3
