Beschreibung

N-Tosyl-L-aspartic acid is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of other compounds. It can be obtained by reacting tosyl chloride with L-aspartic acid. The azide group reacts readily with amines, alcohols, and carboxylic acids. This reaction forms the corresponding ester or amide of the carboxylic acid. N-Tosyl-L-aspartic acid has also been used in the synthesis of penicillins, cephalosporins, and thiocarbamates. N-Tosyl-L-aspartic acid is synthesised by refluxing a mixture of thionyl chloride and aspartic acid in dextrose solution containing amines such as triethylamine or pyridine.
