Produktinformation
5-Butyl-2-mercapto-6-methylpyrimidin-4-ol is a methoxide that has similar reactivity to thiourea. The reaction mechanism of 5BMP is based on the formation of an alkoxide as a reactive intermediate. 5BMP reacts with alkyl esters and alcohols to form sulfides, which are then hydrolyzed to give the corresponding alkyl derivatives. 5BMP reacts with methanol to produce methoxide and methyl mercaptan, and with butanol to produce the ethylmercaptan (5EtM). The conversion of 5BMP into these products is catalyzed by acid or base.
