Beschreibung

Nitrocaphane is a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor. Nitrocaphane inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Nitrocaphane binds to the active site of DNA methyltransferase, preventing enzymatic activity. Nitrocaphane has been shown to be effective against cervical cancer cells and sarcoma cell lines in vitro, although it does not show any activity in animal models. However, nitrocaphane has shown some effects on human liver cells, where it inhibited the expression of growth factors that are involved in tumorigenesis. Nitrocaphane also has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis and growth factor production in human liver cells by binding to the active site of methyl transferases.
