Beschreibung

3-Hydroxy-1-methyl-1,2-dihydropyridine-2-thione is a guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein) regulatory molecule that has been shown to induce the release of the growth hormone from lung cells. In addition, 3-hydroxy-1,2-dihydropyridine 2 thione has been shown to have an antiinflammatory effect in animal models of inflammatory diseases. This compound is being developed as a G protein regulator and as a potential treatment for inflammatory disorders such as asthma. 3HMPT binds to receptor cells on the cell membrane and stimulates intracellular receptors that activate the G protein. This causes activation of certain second messenger pathways inside the cell, which in turn activate a variety of downstream effects, including gene expression and regulation of glucose levels.
