Beschreibung

Ethyl 6-bromo-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxylate (EBC) is a potent, selective and orally active anti-cancer drug that has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro. EBC is a novel anticancer agent that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting protein synthesis. The cytotoxic effect of EBC is mediated by inhibition of protein synthesis through reversible inhibition of ribosomal activity. This compound also inhibits DNA topoisomerase II and DNA gyrase, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. Maximized pharmacokinetic properties have been achieved in animal models using an oral formulation.
