2-tert-Butoxycarbonylamino-3-Naphthalen-1-yl-propionic acid (BnBnPA) is an acceptor in a stepwise electron transfer. It is one of the most efficient acceptors for peptide synthesis. BnBnPA has been shown to have a high efficiency in fluorescence, which is due to its phenyl group and fluorescence properties. This compound was first synthesized by Dr. J. Michael McBride in 1969, who proposed that it would be an excellent peptide coupling agent due to the stability of the polypeptides it forms and the efficiency of the energy transfer process.
