3-Amino-3-cyclohexylpropanoic acid is a synthetic amino acid that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. It is used in the synthesis of a number of polyvinyl acetate binders for use in chromatographic techniques. The uptake and distribution of 3-amino-3-cyclohexylpropanoic acid was studied using a pharmacokinetic study in rats. This compound was found to be rapidly absorbed, metabolized, and excreted through the kidneys.
