IDH889 is an inhibitor of the enzyme 2-hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase, which is involved in the production of 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG), a metabolite that causes cancer cells to grow and divide. It has been shown to bind tightly to the active site of the enzyme and inhibit its activity. IDH889 inhibits cellular proliferation and induces apoptosis in glioma cells by inhibiting 2HG synthesis, leading to tumor regression.
