Beschreibung:Bavisant is a serotonin receptor antagonist. This drug has been used in the diagnosis of serotonin-related disorders, such as depression and anxiety. Bavisant has also been used to treat hyperactivity and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. The drug is administered orally, with a dose of 0.5 mg/kg per day for up to 5 days. Bavisant interacts with h2-receptor antagonists, which may lead to decreased gastric acidity and increased absorption of other drugs, such as warfarin or cimetidine. In clinical trials, the drug has shown statistically significant improvements in treatment effect on ADHD symptoms in children when compared to placebo groups. It is hypothesized that Bavisant's pharmacological effects are due to its ability to block serotonin receptors and reduce the synthesis of dopamine by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase.
