• Beschreibung: 2-Acetoxymethylfuran (2-AMF) is a furan compound that is used as a sealant. 2-AMF is synthesized by the reaction of sodium benzoate with hydrogen fluoride in anhydrous sodium carbonate at high temperature and pressure. The product 2-AMF is obtained by extraction of the reaction mixture with an organic solvent such as acetone, followed by removal of the solvent. 2-AMF has been shown to react with surface metal hydroxides such as aluminum oxide to form a polymer film. This polymer film provides protection against corrosion and can be used for applications such as sealing surfaces in chemical reactors, water tanks, and pipes. Furthermore, 2-AMF reacts with hydrogen fluoride to form furfuryl alcohol and benzoic acid. Furfuryl alcohol is an important precursor for the production of polyester resin, nylon, and other materials.
