The compound has also been shown to inhibit cell proliferation in HL-60 cells, and it inhibits carboxylate anion transfer reactions. 9-Anthracenecarboxylic acid can be used as a probe for cyclase activity because it emits fluorescence when bound to its substrate. This compound has been demonstrated to have high efficacy in inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis in mice models by targeting the ryanodine receptor.
