Beschreibung:2-Aminobenzimidazole is a fluorescent compound that has been used as a probe for the detection of hydrogen bonding interactions. It is also an antihypertensive drug and has been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells. 2-Aminobenzimidazole is able to pass through the mitochondrial membrane, which may be due to its ability to transport protons across this membrane. This drug has been shown to inhibit bowel disease by reducing inflammation and increasing bowel motility. The mechanism of action has not yet been elucidated, but it is thought that 2-aminobenzimidazole may work by altering proton flow across the mitochondrial membrane or by inhibiting the release of proinflammatory factors from immune cells.
