Acetoacetyl-2-chloroaniline is a chlorinated hydrocarbon that is used in the synthesis of diazonium salts. Acetoacetyl-2-chloroaniline is synthesized by the reaction of acetoacetyl chloride with sodium hypochlorite, which yields hydrochloric acid as a byproduct. Acetoacetyl-2-chloroaniline has been shown to be effective in preventing body mass index (BMI) from increasing and can inhibit weight gain in rats when administered orally. The mechanism for this effect may be due to its ability to suppress growth factors such as insulin, IGFs, and leptin.
