Beschreibung:1-Aminoindane is an analog of dopamine that has been shown to have neuroprotective properties. It inhibits the aggregation of amyloid protein and can help prevent neuronal death by binding to hydroxyl groups on the neuronal surface. 1-Aminoindane has also been shown to bind to hydrogen bonding interactions on the outside of neurons and inhibit the entry of calcium ions into cells. 1-Aminoindane is a racemic mixture, meaning that it has two enantiomers, which can be differentiated using molecular docking analysis. One enantiomer, known as (R)-1-aminoindane, appears to be more active than its counterpart (S)-1-aminoindane in inhibiting amyloid protein aggregation and preventing neuronal death. This suggests that 1-aminoindane may be a promising therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease treatment.
