Beschreibung

Acetophenone is a chemical compound found in many foods and fragrances. It is used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, such as acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) or methyl salicylate. Acetophenone has been shown to be metabolized by bacteria under constant pressure conditions, although it is unclear how the organism utilizes this compound. Acetophenone can be converted to 2-phenylethylene glycol by reacting with phosphorus pentoxide and group p2 pluronic p123 at pH 7.5. The reaction mechanism is not clear, but it may involve transfer reactions with water vapor or acetophenone itself. Acetophenone also has a high ph optimum of 10-11, which means that it will react faster at higher pH values. In vitro assays have shown that acetophenone can inhibit microbial metabolism by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis.
