• Beschreibung: 2-Acetamido-6-chloropurine (2ACAP) is a nucleophilic agent that inhibits cancer cells by binding to the enzyme cholinesterase. It is used in the treatment of T-cell leukemia and herpes simplex virus. 2ACAP binds to the amine group of cholinesterase, which prevents it from breaking down acetylcholine. This inhibition leads to accumulation of acetylcholine, which has been shown to induce apoptosis in k562 cells. The molecular modeling study showed that 2ACAP binds to both chlorine atom and benzyl groups in the active site of cholinesterase. 2ACAP also has a potent inhibitory effect on cancer cell proliferation and can be used as an anti-cancer agent for many types of cancers including colon, breast, and prostate cancer.
