Beschreibung

2-Amino-7-(dimethylamino)-4-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile, also known as Fostamatinib, is an experimental drug that was originally developed to treat cancer. It has shown potential to treat type 2 diabetes by inhibiting the growth of pancreatic beta cells. Fostamatinib binds to insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), a molecule that is involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. This binding prevents IGF1 from binding to its receptor, thus preventing the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) protein from phosphorylation. STAT3 activation is required for the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNFα. STAT3 inhibition has been shown to reduce inflammation in animal models and may be beneficial for treating inflammatory diseases such as type 2 diabetes.
