Filanesib is a Toll-like receptor modulator that has minimal toxicity and can be used in the treatment of cancer. It was developed to inhibit the activity of protein kinases, such as mitotic checkpoint kinase 1 and 2 (CHK1 and CHK2), which are involved in the phosphorylation of DNA. Filanesib prevents the phosphorylation of Cdc25A, which in turn prevents the release of mitotic cyclin B, leading to a delayed G2/M transition. This drug also inhibits DNA methyltransferase (DNMT) activity by binding to DNMTs and preventing them from methylating dna. Filanesib is an inhibitor of kinesin, an enzyme that is involved in transporting materials within cells, and it has been shown to reduce cell motility. This drug binds to α1-acid glycoprotein, which may be related to its anticancer properties since this protein is expressed at high levels on some cancer cells. Fil
