Muramyl tripeptide (MTP) is a modified form of MDP that has been used as a vaccine adjuvant. Ac-muramyl-Thr-D-Glu-NH2 is a specific antibody to MDP, which can be reconstituted by mixing with water and sodium chloride. It binds to the influenza virus, enhancing the immune response. The flu virus contains an antigen that stimulates the production of antibodies against influenza virus, and it also contains amphipathic molecules that are responsible for receptor binding and fusion with cells in the respiratory system.
