FT-IR spectroscopy has shown that ammonium hexafluorophosphate interacts with hydrogen bond through both electrostatic and dispersion forces. Ammonium hexafluorophosphate also interacts with trifluoroacetic acid to form ammonium trifluoroacetate as a byproduct, which can be detected using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
