1-Aminocyclohexyl)methanol is a neutralizing agent that can be used in biocides. It is synthesized from the reaction of primary amines, linkers, and metal cations. This compound has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 1-Aminocyclohexyl)methanol binds to amino groups on proteins, which prevent the formation of iminium ions. The addition of carbonyl groups to this compound provides an alternative mechanism for preventing protein cross-linking.
