• Beschreibung: 1-Adamantylbutane-1,3-dione is a trifluoride etherate that is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of pyrazoles. It is synthesized by reacting 1-adamantylbutane with boron trifluoride etherate in the presence of catalytic amounts of hydrazine. The reaction can be carried out at room temperature or with heat treatment. The product can be purified by distillation and recrystallization. 1-Adamantylbutane-1,3-dione has been shown to have a high catalytic activity for the synthesis of pyrazoles from carboxylic acids and chlorides. It also has the ability to inhibit nitric oxide synthase, an enzyme that regulates blood flow and vascular tone. Cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN) has been found to be an effective catalyst for this reaction.
