N-(Aminocarbonyl)benzamide is a benzoyl derivative that can be used as an analytical reagent for the determination of nitro groups in organic compounds. It reacts with nitro groups to produce a chemiluminescent reaction and can be used to detect nitro-containing compounds in wastewater. N-(Aminocarbonyl)benzamide has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with other chemicals, such as hydrazine or hydroxylamine, and it can also be used as an insecticide. This chemical displays a hydrophobic effect and is able to form hydrogen bonding interactions with water molecules on the surface of organic compounds. N-(Aminocarbonyl)benzamide is also able to form complexes with halogens at high pH levels, which makes it useful in titration calorimetry experiments.
