4-(Allyloxy)benzoic acid is a liquid crystal compound with a melting point of 68-69°C. It has been synthesized using ester linkages and amide bonds and can be used in the synthesis of amines and phenolic acids. 4-(Allyloxy)benzoic acid can be used as an antimycobacterial agent, inhibiting the growth of mycobacterium at concentrations as low as 0.25 mg/mL. This compound is also effective against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, with MIC values of 0.5-1.0 mg/mL. 4-(Allyloxy)benzoic acid has been shown to exhibit mesomorphic properties at room temperature, which may be due to its high degree of unsaturation.
