Allylbenzene is a colorless, viscous liquid with a boiling point of -11.2°C. It has been shown to be a redox catalyst and can be used in pharmaceutical preparations, such as the preparation of insoluble polymers. Allylbenzene is also used as an oxidation catalyst in the production of epoxides and aminotransferase activity. The reaction mechanism for allylbenzene is similar to that of fatty acids.
