2-Amino-3-(2-bromophenyl)propanoicacid is a protonated amide. It has an interaction with marine sponges and residues on spermatozoa. This molecule is an enantiopure, which means it is one of the two possible stereoisomers that has been separated from other stereoisomers. 2-Amino-3-(2-bromophenyl)propanoicacid is synthesized in low efficiency by amino acid analysis, where L-phenylalanine is used as a starting material. Deuteration of this compound can be achieved by substituting deuterium for hydrogen in the protons on the amide group (HN). The deuteration process can be detected through mass spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
