It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cultured human renal proximal cells and to reduce the development of kidney fibrosis in rats. Anisodine also inhibits locomotor activity and improves sample preparation in a statistically significant way. Anisodine hydrobromide has not been found to be toxic at doses up to 2000 mg/kg, which is its highest dose studied so far. The study used an experimental model of neurotrophic factors, soybean extract and fluorescein angiography with LC-MS/MS method as the analytical technique.
