Beschreibung

6-Acetyl-2-naphthol is a fluorescent dye that is used as a probe to detect the presence of and measure the concentration of nucleic acids. 6-Acetyl-2-naphthol reacts with nucleic acids by binding to the phosphate backbone, which causes fluorescence. The intensity of this fluorescence can be measured using flow cytometry or spectrophotometry. 6-Acetyl-2-naphthol has been used both in vitro and in vivo to detect and measure nucleic acid levels in tissues. It has also been used as an analytical method for detecting acetonitrile, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, and positrons. This dye is sensitive to fluoride ions, which enhance its fluorescence when they are present.
