Beschreibung

2-Amino-6-cyclopropylamino-9H-purine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits the replication of herpes simplex virus (HSV) in humans. It is an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate, which binds to the viral DNA polymerase and blocks the incorporation of deoxyribonucleotide triphosphates into the viral DNA during elongation. 2-Amino-6-cyclopropylamino-9H-purine has been shown to be safe and effective for treating HSV infections in humans, with no serious adverse effects. This drug can be administered orally or intravenously and is scalable for manufacture by chemical synthesis. The antiviral activity of 2-Amino-6-cyclopropylamino-9H-purine was evaluated using hybridization assays on tissue culture cells infected with HSV type 1 or HSV type 2.
