Beschreibung

5-Amino-3-methylisothiazole-4-carboxylic acid (5AMICA) is an aliphatic compound that contains a carboxylic group. It has been shown to have biological properties, such as the ability to inhibit hypersensitivity reactions, although the mechanism of action is not known. 5AMICA also inhibits the production of antibodies. 5AMICA is a competitive inhibitor of aromatic amines and thiourea in vitro and in vivo. This inhibition may be due to competition for binding sites on enzymes involved in the metabolism of aromatic amines or the formation of hydrogen bonds with other amino acids or nucleic acids. 5AMICA also inhibits myeloperoxidase activity and DNA synthesis in cultured human erythroleukemia cells and splenocytes from rats treated with 5AMICA.
