3-[2-(2-Aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-trimethoxysilane is a chemical compound that has the general formula of CH3(CH2)6N(CH2CH3)2Si(OCH3)3. It is a white, water-soluble powder with a nitrogen content of 0.7%. The optimum concentration for this compound is 0.5%. 3-[2-(2-Aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-trimethoxysilane reacts with proteins and nucleic acids to form crosslinked networks. This reaction mechanism may be due to the reactive nitrogen atoms on the molecule. 3-[2-(2-Aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-trimethoxysilane can also be used as a fluorescent probe for determination of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in human serum and water vapor.
