Beschreibung

4-(Acetylamino)benzenesulfonyl chloride is a sulfonamide drug that is used to treat urinary tract infections. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase, which is required for the synthesis of folate and purine nucleotides. 4-(Acetylamino)benzenesulfonyl chloride also has been shown to inhibit the activity of human immunodeficiency virus reverse transcriptase and protease, as well as other enzymes such as phosphodiesterase. This drug also has pharmacokinetic properties, including high water solubility and low protein binding. These properties are necessary for treating infections in the urinary tract, where urine contains high concentrations of electrolytes. 4-(Acetylamino)benzenesulfonyl chloride binds to a specific antibody that reacts with the active form of this molecule and not with its inactive form or other structurally related molecules.
