6-Amino-5-bromo-1-methyluracil monohydrate (6ABMU) is a purine analogue that has been shown to be a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme uracil phosphoribosyltransferase, which is involved in the synthesis of uridine monophosphate. 6ABMU has been used for research purposes and can be administered orally or intravenously. This drug also has been shown to increase the production of propylamine, an intermediate in the metabolism of methylated purines. The pharmacokinetics of 6ABMU have been studied in rats, mice, and humans and has been found to have a half-life of about one hour. Metrics such as the bioavailability and plasma protein binding have also been determined for this drug.
