2-Aminoethoxyamine dihydrochloride is a cardiotonic, which is a chemical agent that acts on the heart to increase contractility. It has been shown to be more efficient and less toxic than other cardiotonics. 2-Aminoethoxyamine dihydrochloride has been found to act as an epoxidizing agent and can be used in the synthesis of istaroxime, an inhibitor of cholesterol biosynthesis.2-Aminoethoxyamine dihydrochloride also reacts with dehydroepiandrosterone to form 2-aminoethoxyamidine hydrochloride.
