• Beschreibung: Anhydrotetracycline hydrochloride is a synthetic tetracycline antibiotic that has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Enterobacteriaceae. It is also effective against Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, and Listeria monocytogenes. Anhydrotetracycline hydrochloride functions by inhibiting protein synthesis, which prevents the production of proteins vital for cell division. This antibiotic inhibits translation by interfering with the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to ribosomes through an unknown mechanism. Anhydrotetracycline hydrochloride has also been shown to enhance bacterial growth in the presence of carbon sources such as butanol or sugar alcohols.
