Beschreibung

2-[2-(2-Azidoethoxy)ethoxy]ethanol (AZIDE) is a glucose analogue that can be used to study the effects of growth factors in regenerative medicine. It has been shown to act as a polymerization agent for poly(ethylene glycol) and poly(lactic acid) with high chemical stability. The uptake of AZIDE in human serum was found to be rapid and it was metabolized by hydroxylation, conjugation with glutathione, or oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes. AZIDE also has chemiluminescent properties and can be used for detection of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
