Beschreibung

Ceftiofur is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that has been used to treat bacterial infections in cattle and other animals. Ceftiofur belongs to the class of β-lactam antibiotics and inhibits the synthesis of cell wall components by binding to penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall. Ceftiofur has been shown to have good clinical efficacy against gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. The drug's antimicrobial activity is reduced by tetracycline resistance and amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, which are commonly used to treat infections in humans. Ceftiofur also has pharmacokinetic properties that make it suitable for intravenous administration and treatment of infections in cattle.
