Beschreibung

Telaprevir is a drug that belongs to the class of synthetic amides. It is a potent and selective inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus NS3/4A protease. Telaprevir inhibits the synthesis of viral proteins, which are necessary for replication, by inhibiting the activity of this enzyme. The synthesis of telaprevir is based on a condensation reaction between cyclopropylamine and 3-aminohydroxyphenylacetic acid followed by hydrogenation reduction and deprotection steps. Telaprevir can be synthesized in an enantiomerically pure form by using chiral sorbate catalysts.
