• Beschreibung: S-Allyl-L-cysteine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits the production of prostaglandins and is used to treat pain and inflammation. S-Allyl-L-cysteine has been shown to inhibit the apoptosis pathway by inhibiting the expression of proapoptotic proteins. In vitro assays have demonstrated that this drug can protect cells from neuronal death induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS), which may be due to its ability to enhance mitochondrial membrane potential, mitochondrial functions, and signal pathways. S-Allyl-L-cysteine also exhibits antioxidant properties in vitro, as it reacts with ROS to form an inactive molecule. This reactive compound has also been shown to have pharmacological effects in vivo, including inhibition of platelet aggregation and vasoconstriction.
