6-Acetyl-2(3H)-benzoxazolone (6ABO) is a drug that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity in animals. It binds to the 5-HT2 receptors, which are involved in the transmission of pain signals. 6ABO also inhibits transporters such as Pgp and Bcrp, which are responsible for transporting drugs out of cells. This leads to an increase in the levels of drugs inside cells and enhances their effects. 6ABO has been shown to inhibit CYP2C19 and CYP2D6 enzymes, which can lead to drug-drug interactions with other medications that are substrates for these enzymes. 6ABO also binds to cocaine and benzodiazepines, leading to an increase in their affinity for binding sites on neurons.
