Beschreibung

Allyl chloride is a reactive, flammable liquid that belongs to the class of metal carbonyls. It has a hydroxyl group and reacts with metals and other transition metals to form metal chelates. Allyl chloride undergoes autocatalytic reaction in the presence of air, which leads to an explosion. The oxidation of allyl chloride by an oxidation catalyst (e.g., benzalkonium chloride) can be used as a method for generating hydrogen gas. Allyl chloride's reactivity also enables it to bind covalently with proteins and enzymes, which can lead to changes in enzyme activities or reaction mechanisms.
