3-Azetidinecarbonitrile hydrochloride is a salt that can be prepared by the reaction between an azetidine and carbon tetrachloride. 3-Azetidinecarbonitrile hydrochloride has been shown to have the ability to solvate polar molecules such as anions, and is often used in ionic liquids. It can also be used as a viscosity modifier for water-soluble polymers, or as a solvent for organic reactions. 3-Azetidinecarbonitrile hydrochloride has been studied extensively with mass spectrometry detection techniques, where it was found that this salt forms an eutectic mixture with lithium chloride at around 239 °C.
