Beschreibung

Docetaxel is a chemotherapy drug that belongs to the class of taxanes. It has been shown to induce apoptotic cell death in prostate cancer cells, which may be due to the induction of messenger RNA, growth factor, and transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Docetaxel also has a multidrug resistance mechanism and is effective against a wide range of cancer types. Docetaxel can be used in conjunction with other chemotherapeutic agents such as cisplatin or 5-fluorouracil for the treatment of solid tumors. In addition, docetaxel can be used as an adjuvant treatment for breast cancer after surgery or radiation therapy. Docetaxel is also effective against some forms of leukemia and lymphoma.
