4-Aminobenzoic acid sodium salt is an aminobenzoic acid that is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is soluble in water and alcohol and has a pH of 4.5. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis, which prevents the formation of fatty acids and results in cell death.
