Beschreibung

Acetyl-D-homophenylalanine is a chemical compound that is used in the treatment of wastewater. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, which is used in the synthesis of L-phenylalanine from D-phenylalanine. Acetyl-D-homophenylalanine has also been studied as a potential anticancer agent for treatment of cervical cancer. This molecule was found to inhibit the growth of cervical cancer cells by impairing DNA replication and transcription. In addition, acetyl-D-homophenylalanine inhibits the expression of surface molecules on human colon cancer cells, which may lead to tumor cell death. Acetyl-D-homophenylalanine also inhibits polymerase chain reaction (PCR) activity, which can be used to detect viral genomes or mutations in DNA sequences.
