Beschreibung

3-Amino-1-methylthiourea is a compound that has been used in biological studies and has shown to have neurotrophic properties. 3-Amino-1-methylthiourea has been studied for its ability to inhibit the growth of skin cancer cells, and it has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the mitochondrial membrane potential. This compound binds to the sulfhydryl groups on proteins, which prevents their oxidation. It also blocks the release of nitric oxide from cells by reacting with reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reducing them to harmless forms. 3-Amino-1-methylthiourea is an amide with two nitrogen atoms, one of which is located in an asymmetric unit. The other nitrogen atom is bonded to three carbonyl groups and one methyl group, forming a five member ring.
