O-Allylhydroxylamine hydrochloride is a broad spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by alkylating the ribosomal RNA and DNA. O-Allylhydroxylamine hydrochloride is used for the treatment of severe infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria and has been shown to be effective against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. O-Allylhydroxylamine hydrochloride is also used as an agrochemical, especially in fruit orchards, where it can be used to control brown rot and other fungal diseases. This compound is synthesized from chlorine atom, ultraviolet absorption, and an alkylating agent. It is damaging to plants when applied at high concentrations.
