Beschreibung

2-Amino-4-methylbenzonitrile is a potent anticancer drug that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by targeting the active site of DNA polymerase β. It has been shown to have potent cytotoxicity against colorectal adenocarcinoma cells and cervical cancer cells, as well as inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in a number of other cancers. 2-Amino-4-methylbenzonitrile has been shown to be effective in nanomolar concentrations, which is important for potential use in combination therapies. This drug has also been studied using a variety of molecular profiling techniques to identify its mechanism of action. 2-Amino-4-methylbenzonitrile has been found to bind to the active site on DNA polymerase β and inhibit its activity, leading to the accumulation of errors during replication. This accumulation leads to the inhibition of protein synthesis and cell division, causing apoptosis.
