Beschreibung:4-Acetamidobenzonitrile is an antimicrobial agent with a constant rate of reaction. It is used as a preservative in pharmaceutical formulations and cosmetics. 4-Acetamidobenzonitrile has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in vitro, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of organic acids. 4-Acetamidobenzonitrile has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. This drug is active against Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae, but not against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) for 4-acetamidobenzonitrile was found to be 0.3 mg/mL for all strains tested, suggesting that this drug may be an efficient method of treatment for infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria
